HOW IT WORKS

Three simple steps.

U Steam sits on the bottommost oven rack. Compact enough to live in your oven permanently.

Preheat

Heat your oven to 450°F for 45 minutes. U Steam’s thermal mass absorbs heat, ready to generate steam on contact.

Load & Fill

Place your loaves on the built-in bread steel (and optionally on additional racks above). Pour up to 3 cups of water into the reservoir and close the door.

Bake

Water gravity-feeds through the system, vaporizing continuously. Your oven fills with steam for the entire first half of the bake.

Over a quarter inch of solid aluminum transfers significantly more heat energy than lava rocks or soaked towels. Channels machined into the core spread water into a thin film across the entire surface, vaporizing it continuously.

We are planning to launch U Steam for $349 on Kickstarter. You can save $60 by reserving your spot now.

The dimensions of U Steam are 21in long x 15in wide x 2.5in tall — in a standard 30in wide oven, the unit is designed to fit neatly on an oven rack with at least 1 inch of clearance on all sides.

U Steam holds up to 3 cups of water and can supply enough steam to make the entire oven cavity humid. We recommend starting by using 2 cups of water in your initial bake and adjusting both water and oven temperature from there.

We are currently gearing up for our launch on Kickstarter and are targeting Q2 2026. Subscribe to our email list for the most up to date information.

U Steam is made for any standard home oven, gas or electric. Like any bread setup, there’s a learning curve to dial in temperature, timing, and water amount for your oven.

While it depends on the exact shape and size you bake, U Steam can typically fit up to 3 boules or batards on the built-in bread steel. You can position another bread steel/stone above U Steam and bake additional loaves above the unit to max out your oven’s capacity. Larger bakes tend to take longer than smaller ones.

U Steam is made from 100% food grade metals including carbon steel and aluminum.

U Steam is initially going to be launched in the United States. We hope to serve international customers soon.
